SUSTAINABILITY PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE

Our guiding principle is to develop buildings for future generations to be proud of.

Reaching this goal is a process of constant evolution, and we’re committed to continuous improvement and to full transparency about the journey.

Fundamentally, we believe that real estate can be a force for good but improving sustainability in real estate is an iterative process. Ratings and certifications serve an important purpose but are most effective as part of a holistic approach. By placing sustainability at the forefront of our processes, we aim to broaden our capital’s potential to contribute positively to the environment and the communities that they’re a part of.

THE ENVIRONMENT

The Environment

We can reduce the resources we use and the environmental impact of those resources, increase the use and production of renewables, and protect biodiversity by changing the way we develop and operate real estate.

SOCIETY

Society

Sustainability is about more than just the environment. We’re also committed to better social outcomes across the assets that we manage. And strive to build more inclusive communities that benefit members’ health and wellbeing.

These societal objectives go hand-in-hand with our environmental goals. Net-zero carbon goals won’t be met unless decarbonisation is intrinsically linked to the creation of a more equitable society.

OUR FIRM

Our Firm

We embrace our responsibilities to all our stakeholders and are proud of our corporate culture. In everything we do, we work hard to maintain our integrity and ethical standards, and we insist on personal accountability across our team.

KEY SUSTAINABILITY DRIVERS

Design-led

From natural ventilation and passive shading to public realm that increases the permeability of a site for people and for rain water, sustainability starts at the very beginning of an asset's life cycle.

Resource-light

First we look to reuse existing resources to keep the embedded carbon; then we focus on using materials from renewable sources, and only then do we resort to non-renewable inputs. At all times we look locally to reduce transportation and maximise the local benefit of our assets.

Inclusive space

We want our assets to enable people in how they live, work and play. We develop places for all people and hope to inspire them through good design and sustainable operation.
